Workshop: Platen Press Fundamentals

PLATEN PRESS FUNDAMENTALS

Master the platen press by designing and printing your own edition of letterpress greeting cards. This workshop focuses on the specific techniques and rhythm of platen press operation—feeding paper, achieving even impression, and producing clean, consistent prints.

You'll set metal type to create one card design, then print an edition of 15 cards to take home. Through hands-on practice, you'll learn makeready, lockup, ink coverage, and troubleshooting common press issues. By the end of the workshop, you'll understand how to operate a platen press confidently and have beautiful cards ready to send or gift.

Ideal for printers who want to add platen press skills to their repertoire and create functional, finished work.
