ViVO Youth Orchestras is a Sonoma-based youth development and music education organization that uses ensemble music-making to foster creativity, confidence, belonging, and personal growth. Through a welcoming and inclusive environment, students from diverse backgrounds come together to develop musicianship, build meaningful relationships, and discover their unique voice through the arts.
Serving students in grades K–12 from across Sonoma Valley, ViVO offers a comprehensive pathway of music education that includes beginning and advanced strings, winds, percussion, chamber ensembles, and leadership opportunities. Students receive consistent, high-quality instruction from professional teaching artists with advanced training in music, education, and youth development, many of whom have deep roots in the Sonoma community.
More than an orchestra program, ViVO is a community where young people learn to collaborate, mentor one another, navigate challenges, and celebrate growth. Older students serve as role models and teachers for younger musicians, creating a culture of shared learning and leadership that extends beyond the rehearsal room.
Through partnerships with Sonoma Valley Unified School District, Valley of the Moon Music Festival, Ballet Folklórico Quetzalén, Sonoma Community Center, the City of Sonoma, and other local organizations, ViVO connects students to the vibrant cultural life of Sonoma Valley while ensuring that every young person has the opportunity to experience the joy, collaborative, and transformative power of making music together.
